Sara Perkins Jones
eDiscovery Counsel, Spark eDiscovery
Sara Perkins Jones
Sara Jones is a practicing litigator and the founder of Spark eDiscovery, P.C.
She started Spark in 2022 with a specific premise: that the quality and efficacy of your eDiscovery process shouldn't depend on the size of your firm or your case.
Sara spent the first decade of her career handling document-intensive litigation at major Boston firms — first at Ropes & Gray across securities, class action, international investigation, and employment matters, then at Anderson & Kreiger representing corporate policyholders in complex coverage disputes. Along the way, she managed eDiscovery on cases ranging from straightforward to fraught: clawbacks, legacy system migrations, mid-review production disputes, inadvertent disclosure fights, and government investigations with 20-page production specifications.
What she noticed was a consistent gap: Small and mid-size firms were either underserved by large vendors running expensive enterprise-scale playbooks on modest matters, or they were winging it — and risking sanctions. Spark was built to fill that gap: litigation-trained eDiscovery counsel who thinks about the facts of a case, not just the data.
Sara is a Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS) and a member of ACEDS. She brings practical advice, technical fluency, and a will-do attitude to every engagement. Sara lives outside of Boston with her ten-year-old daughter and a border collie mix who will never give up trying to herd them.
EXPERIENCE
ANDERSON & KREIGER LLP, BOSTON | 2019-2022
Sara represented corporate policyholders in coverage disputes with insurers and advised on eDiscovery for matters across the firm. In that role, she navigated firsthand the most expensive and disruptive eDiscovery problems a smaller practice can face: collecting archived emails from legacy systems, migrating a document review database between two competing vendors mid-review, handling inadvertent production clawbacks, fighting to force opposing counsel to comply with discovery rules, and defending privilege assertions under pressure.
That experience — knowing where things go wrong, and why — is what Sara brings to every Spark engagement.
ROPES & GRAY LLP, BOSTON | 2013-2019
Sara worked across Ropes' diverse litigation and enforcement practice — from international compliance investigations to SEC enforcement actions, class actions, insurance coverage arbitrations, employment disputes, and trade secret cases. She started out as an associate on large document-intensive matters and, by the time she left as a senior associate, was managing her own reviews and negotiating discovery issues with opposing counsel.
MASSACHUSETTS SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT, BOSTON | 2012-2013
Sara was proud to serve as a clerk for Justice Fernande R.V. Duffly, the first Asian-American to be appointed to the state’s highest court.
